Wildlife and Adaptations
Plants-Must be able to withstand high amounts of water
Cat tails, algae, reeds
Adaptation #1- Algae has a special coating that allows them to cling to rocks and float on the surface of water
Adaptation #2- Cat tails have long, thin stems that allow it to grow along riverbanks and even in water
Adaptation #3- Reeds are able to grow in coarse soil lacking nutrients usually needed for other plants to grow
Animals- (focused on the Ganges River)
River Dolphin, Gharial Crocodile, Deer
Adaptation #1- young gharial crocodiales have the ability to eat insects, frogs and fish, and grow to eat other animals
Adaptation #2- the Ganges River Dolphin uses echolocation to find prey in the very murky waters of the Ganges River
