Adaptation #2- Heath roots grow sideways underground in order to avoid permafrost (frozen layer of earth underneath topsoil) Adaptation #3- Stems of short plants have hairy stems and small leaves to trap and conserve heat Animals- Mostly small animals and insects Polar Bears, Arctic Fox, Ox, Wolves, and Caribou Adaptation #1- All these animals have dense furs and/or fat to protect themselves from cold Adaptation #2- Polar Bears have large feet that help with walking on snow. Adaptation #3- The arctic fox has a coat that changes colors with the seasons.
